Umar Riaz has come out in support of his brother Asim Riaz after the latter found himself at the centre of controversy following remarks made by Himanshi Khurana about their past relationship. Himanshi had spoken about alleged religious conversion during her appearance on Paras Chhabra’s podcast, triggering strong reactions online. Asim later denied the allegations.

Now, Umar has said that the episode was particularly hurtful because, according to him, people were quick to judge and “demean” Asim without hearing his side.

Speaking to ETimes, Umar said Asim usually does not respond to every controversy surrounding him, but there are moments when remaining silent can be mistaken for acceptance.

Umar Riaz Says Asim Speaks Only When Necessary

Umar explained that Asim prefers to stay away from unnecessary back-and-forth unless he feels that a clarification has become unavoidable.

According to him, when allegations or claims are repeatedly made against someone, there comes a point where that person may feel compelled to defend themselves.

He said Asim generally does not react immediately, but eventually reaches a point where he feels, “Now I have to make my point.”

Umar added that staying silent can sometimes lead people to assume that everything being said is true.

“Otherwise, people might assume that whatever has been said about him is true. What happened this time was really sad. Everybody came out and started demeaning him, and that was hurtful. It makes you feel that perhaps you should not make your relationship public,” he said.

Umar Calls Asim ‘A Wonderful Person’

Umar also questioned why only difficult or unpleasant moments from a relationship end up becoming part of public conversation.

He pointed out that every relationship goes through different phases and said that if there were problems, there must also have been happier moments.

“Everybody goes through difficult times, but there must have been good moments in the relationship too. Why not talk about those as well? Asim is a wonderful person, and people love him,” Umar said.

His comments came after Himanshi’s remarks about her relationship with Asim sparked a wider debate, with the issue of religion becoming the biggest talking point.

Asim subsequently rejected the claims made against him.

Asim Riaz And Himanshi Khurana’s Relationship

Asim and Himanshi first met during Bigg Boss 13. Himanshi entered the reality show as a wild card contestant and was engaged to her then-boyfriend Chow at the time.

Asim developed feelings for her during the show, and their equation eventually became one of the most discussed relationships to emerge from that season.

The two continued dating after Bigg Boss 13 and were together for nearly four years before announcing their separation.

At the time of their breakup, Asim and Himanshi said that differences in their religious beliefs were among the reasons behind their decision to part ways.

Their relationship has once again returned to public discussion after Himanshi’s recent comments, followed by Asim’s denial and now Umar’s defence of his brother.
