Ever since the Rama teaser of Ramayana released earlier this year, Ranbir Kapoor’s casting as lord Ram left everyone with mixed reactions. However, things seem to be changing now. Ranbir Kapoor’s casting as Lord Ram in Nitesh Tiwari’s directorial has won over a section of the audience after the release of the film’s first song, Jai Jai Ram.

While the actor’s casting had sparked debate and criticism earlier, several social media users are now praising Ranbir’s appearance as Lord Ram and admitting that they may have been too quick to question the choice.

The first song, released on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi, gives audiences a closer look at Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram and Sai Pallavi as Sita. Composed by AR Rahman and sung by Arijit Singh and Shreya Ghoshal, the song showcases several important moments from the epic, including Ram and Sita’s wedding and glimpses of Ram’s journey.

Reacting to the song, one of the users wrote, “Never doubt Ranbir Kapoor absolutely Peak casting.” “Ranbir Kapoor’s only competition is Ranbir Kapoor himself🙌🏻🔥,” added another.

“The chemistry of Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram and Sai Pallavi as Maa Sita feels absolutely divine and mesmerizing. Jai Jai Ram is so soothing to the soul—Shreya Ghoshal and Arijit Singh have given it such a beautiful depth. ❤️ And Kumar Vishwas’ lyrics 🥰 #Ramayana,” a third post on X read.

“Ranbir Kapoor’s portrayal of Shri Ram appears deliberately restrained. The calm body language, controlled expressions and composed presence in these glimpses suggest a performance built more on dignity than dramatics. #Ramayana,” wrote another.

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana features Ranbir Kapoor as Shri Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Ravie Dubey as Lakshman. The film has been produced by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios in association with DNEG and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations. Sony Pictures will handle the film’s global distribution outside India.

Ramayana Part One is scheduled to release in cinemas on Diwali 2026.
