Actress Swara Bhasker and politician Fahad Ahmad have opened up about their love story. In a recent interview, the couple revealed how their relationship began, and shared that it was activist Umar Khalid who played a key role in bringing the two together.
The couple was discussing their love story on The Midnight Hour podcast, when Fahad mentioned that Khalid, who was a close friend of his, gave him Swara’s phone number and encouraged him to call her. “Umar Khalid, he is a very good friend of mine. So he told me, ‘I’m sending you Swara’s number, you just call her’,” Fahad recalled.
Swara also acknowledged Khalid’s role in their relationship, calling him their cupid. “He was our cupid. He was the person who connected us,” she added.
Fahad followed Khalid’s advice and called Swara. While she generally does not answer calls from unknown numbers, the circumstances were different at the time. Back then, Swara was actively involved in protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and was communicating with people associated with the movement.
“I do not answer calls from unlisted numbers normally, but at that time, because it was a movement and for solidarity I did answer, or maybe texted, and I replied, and we spoke,” she shared.
Following this, Swara and Fahad met during the protests and eventually fell in love with one another. They tied the knot on 16th February 2023 under the Special Marriage Act and welcomed their first child, baby girl Raabiyaa, later that year.
Earlier this year, Swara Bhasker took to her Instagram and shared some beautiful pictures from her wedding with Fahad as they marked three years of togetherness.
“And just like that.. it’s been 3 years!!! Happy three to us @fahadzirarahmad May we always find each other despite the chaos, the crowds, the bickering (lol), the logistics and even in the hard times.. May we find each other, hold each other, honour each other and love each other for all the years to come. So lucky to have this life with you! Last pic being most representative of our marriage,” she wrote.
Fahad also shared photos with Swara, and wrote, “Three years of marriage, and I can honestly say — I’m a better man because of you. You’ve shaped my patience, strengthened my character, and deepened my commitment — not just to us, but to every cause I believe in. Your love gives me direction. Your strength gives me purpose. Happy 3rd anniversary to the woman who made me better in every way.”
