Saba Azad has reacted sharply after actor Imran Khan was issued a notice asking him to Leave India following his participation in a Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protest in Mumbai last week. Sharing a post about the development on social media, Saba made her displeasure clear in a brief but pointed response.

“What!? This is absolute BS,” she wrote while reacting to the news that Imran has been given until October 28 to leave the country.

Imran, who holds US citizenship and an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) card, had joined the protest in Mumbai along with his partner Lekha Washington and cousin Zayn Marie Khan. The three were among hundreds of protesters detained during the demonstration before being released later that evening.

Saba Azad Reacts To Imran Khan’s Exit Notice

Saba’s reaction came hours after the notice against Imran surfaced.

The actor, known for films including Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na, Mere Brother Ki Dulhan and Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu, has been given an October 28 deadline to leave India.

Imran is the nephew of Aamir Khan and has worked extensively in the Hindi film industry despite being a US citizen. He possesses an OCI card, which allows eligible foreign citizens of Indian origin certain rights to live and work in the country, subject to applicable restrictions.

Saba did not elaborate further on the notice or its legal implications, limiting her reaction to calling the development “absolute BS”.

Imran Khan Was Detained During Mumbai Protest

Imran had participated in the CJP demonstration held in Mumbai last Saturday in support of protests against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

More than 400 demonstrators were detained in the city during the protest, including Imran, Lekha Washington and Zayn Marie Khan. The trio was released the same evening.

Imran even shared a selfie from inside the police vehicle after being detained. Keeping his response characteristically dry, he captioned the photograph, “Apparently I’m going for a drive.”

Before being taken into custody, Imran had also spoken to reporters about why he had decided to join the demonstration.

“I don’t have demands. I am here as a citizen, as someone who lives in this city. I am here to see why freedom of movement is being restricted – why people’s voices are being suppressed. That is why I am here,” he said.

Kirit Somaiya Had Raised Objection To Imran’s Participation

After news of Imran’s detention emerged, BJP leader Kirit Somaiya approached Mumbai Police and raised objections over the actor’s participation in the protest.

Somaiya alleged that Imran should face action for taking part in what he described as an “illegal political agitation” and accused him of violating provisions governing his OCI status and visa conditions.

The actor’s citizenship status subsequently became central to the controversy surrounding his participation in the demonstration.

Imran Khan Likely To Move Bombay High Court

Imran is now expected to challenge the notice legally rather than simply comply with the October 28 deadline.

He is likely to approach the Bombay High Court on Monday through his lawyer, advocate Zulfiquar Memon. A formal petition challenging the FRRO notice is expected to be filed on his behalf.

The legal challenge would give Imran an opportunity to contest the action and seek relief from the court before the deadline requiring him to leave India.

The development comes after his brief detention during the Mumbai protest became one of the most widely discussed moments from the demonstrations, particularly because Imran had largely stayed away from overt political activity in public life.
