Actor Ranvir Shorey Gets Alleged Death Threats After Criticising CJP Protest.

Actor Ranvir Shorey has approached the cyber police and Mumbai Police after allegedly receiving death threats following his criticism of the Cockroach Janata Party’s (CJP) street protest. The actor shared screenshots of threatening emails on X and asked cybercrime authorities to investigate the messages, one of which claimed that the sender was tracking his movements.

The threats came after Shorey questioned the CJP’s decision to hold a street protest in Delhi. He argued that political parties should use Parliament, elections and the courts to raise their concerns rather than disrupt public spaces and infrastructure.

Ranvir Shorey Shares Screenshots Of Threatening Emails

Ranvir Shorey posted screenshots of the emails on X after receiving messages containing abusive language and threats of an attack. One of the emails was sent by a person using the name Raj Parihar, who claimed to be keeping track of the actor’s location and movements.

The sender also warned that Shorey would be attacked when the time was right. The actor tagged Cyber Dost and Maharashtra Cyber in his post, asking them to look into the matter.

“Hello @Cyberdost @MahaCyber1. Please note the following threats that I have received from these 2 email accounts. Thanks,” he wrote.

Mumbai Police reacted to Shorey’s post and asked him to share his contact details privately. The police wrote, “We have followed you. Please share your contact details in DM,”

Shorey thanked the police for their prompt response and also filed an official complaint. The messages and the actor’s complaint have brought attention to the threats he says he received after expressing his views on the CJP protest.

What Ranvir Shorey Said About The CJP Protest

Before sharing the threatening emails, Shorey had criticised the CJP’s decision to take its protest to the streets. He said political parties should demonstrate their support through democratic institutions and electoral processes. “Show your numbers in Parliament and the ballot, not the streets! And if the way to those seems unjust, show the courts! That is the democratic way! Hijacking the streets and holding the public infrastructure and law and order machinery to ransom is the actual “murder of democracy”!”

Why Was The CJP Protesting In Delhi?

The CJP held a demonstration at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on October 10, demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The party organised the protest over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

The controversy centres on allegations of wrongful voter deletions and concerns about the revision process. The CJP has called for accountability from the Election Commission.
