Ramayana declared tax-free in West Bengal
Ranbir Kapoor and Yash are coming together for Ramayana, a film based on the famous Indian epic. With the film set to release soon, there is some good news for the team. West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has announced that the film will be tax-free in the state.
The announcement was made on Vijayadashami, ahead of the film’s release on November 5.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana. Ravi Dubey will play Lakshman. The film also features Rakul Preet Singh, Kunal Kapoor, Vivek Oberoi and Faisal Malik in important roles.
At a pre-release event in Hyderabad, Yash spoke about the film’s visual effects. He asked people not to focus too much on small mistakes in the VFX. He said the film could help take Indian cinema to audiences around the world.
Yash also praised producer Namit Malhotra for putting his money and reputation on the line to make the film. Speaking at the event, he said, “Sometimes, when someone tries to do things like this. He has gambled his reputation and money to put this film on a global platform. Please don’t try to find small faults in the VFX. It will never happen again if we lose people like him (Namit) now. It will take more years. We will go back in time.”
Meanwhile, Ranbir Kapoor thanked the Telugu audience for all the love and said he hoped they would enjoy watching the film in theatres. “Jai Shri Ram! Greetings to everyone. Some stories do not need to be told because they live on with us. Ramayana is one such story. Ramayana is a wonderful journey that teaches us how to be a great father, a good son, a loving husband and a true friend. When you watch this film, it will not feel like you are simply watching a movie. You will undoubtedly experience something extraordinary. This is a film that inspires goodness in all of us. Namit Malhotra has brought this film to life with an extraordinary vision. Director Nitesh Tiwari has crafted it beautifully, and I thank him for making me a part of this film. Rakul’s performance in this film is very different and will surprise all of you. My journey with Sai Pallavi on this film has been a memorable experience. Whenever I saw her on the sets, I genuinely felt as though I was looking at Goddess Sita herself. I cannot imagine anyone other than her playing this character. If I had a brother, he would be like Ravi.”
