Jailer 2: Mohanlal’s Stand-In Says Only His Hands and Legs Feature in Film, Denies Climax Scene Rumours
Questions about Mohanlal’s appearance in Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 have been circulating among fans, especially after viewers raised concerns about his limited screen time and the possibility of a body double being used in a crucial sequence. Now, the film’s action director, Chethan Ramshi D’Souza, and Jobi Kodakara, who worked as a stand-in for the Malayalam superstar, have clarified rumours, revealing what really happened.
Action Director Confirms Mohanlal Performed The Scene
The speculation gained traction after fans began questioning whether Mohanlal himself appeared alongside Rajinikanth in a scene towards the film’s climax. Some viewers suggested that a body double might have been used, while others wondered whether artificial intelligence had played a role.
Chethan addressed the issue in the comments section of an Instagram post he shared with cinematographer Vijay Kartik Kannan. The post was a note of appreciation for the cinematographer’s work on the film.
A fan used the opportunity to ask why Mohanlal’s introduction appeared to have been shortened and whether the actor or a double featured in the car sequence.
“Sir 2 doubts . Why mohanlal sir intro is trimmed i hope there are quite scenes of stars are trimmed and other question in the car scene does mohanlal acted in the scene or dupe . There is a circulation regarding dupe acted in the scene,” asked a fan.
Although Chethan did not respond to the question about the trimmed introduction, he directly addressed the casting speculation with a brief clarification: “It’s him.”
His response clearly states that Mohanlal himself performed the scene in question, countering claims that a stand-in was used in his place.
Mohanlal’s Stand-In Explains His Contribution
Jobi Kodakara, who has identified himself as Mohanlal’s stand-in for Jailer 2, has also explained the extent of his involvement. Speaking on the Jango Space YouTube channel, he said that his work was limited to a small number of shots involving the actor’s hands and legs.
The rumours gathered momentum after Jobi shared photographs from the film’s sets on social media. Dressed similarly to Mohanlal, he prompted speculation among viewers about whether he had appeared in the film’s more prominent sequences.
Jobi clarified that his contribution was restricted to a couple of shots during the airport sequence towards the climax. These included close-ups of someone changing gears while driving and pressing the accelerator.
He said that his face does not appear in the film and denied being the person viewers believed they had spotted during the climactic sequence.
“Only one or two shots featuring me have been used in the film, to be honest, only parts of my hands and legs are visible. These appear in the airport scene during the climax. There is a shot of someone changing gears while driving, and another showing someone pressing the accelerator,” he said.
“That’s all. They are among the finest actors in the world, so perhaps I was brought in due to schedule or time constraints. My face has not been shown anywhere. The face that people claim is shown in the climax isn’t mine. I am certain about that,” he further added.
Jobi also expressed regret over sharing behind-the-scenes photographs, saying that posting those pictures was the only mistake he had made.
