Actress Niti Taylor claims that a director asked her to sleep with him in exchange for a film role.
Niti Taylor has made some shocking claims. In a recent interview, the actress, who has also worked in two South films apart from several Hindi television shows, claimed that a director had once asked her to sleep with him for getting a role in his film. While Niti did not name the director, she stated that she blocked him after the incident.
“The director who did the first film with me called me for another movie when we were done with it. Then he said, but you will have to sleep with me for it this time. You do not realise, you do not know how to react. I just cut the call, I blocked his number, I called up my mom, and I’m like, imagine that budda, old man,” Niti told Hauterrfly.
“I saw him with other chicks and stuff like that. I never knew when he would try this with me. That’s when I decided I will never do any movie ever again. I was just taken aback, and I only blocked him. I did not tell this to anyone because I was zapped. You just come like…” the actress added.
It should be noted that while Niti did not name the director, netizens are speculating that it might be Trinadha Rao Nakkina. Niti made her Telugu film debut with Mem Vayasuku Vacham in 2012, which was directed by Trinadha Rao Nakkina.
Soon after a video of Niti’s interview was shared on Reddit, several social media users expressed anger. “So many actresses have been robbed of success and opportunities all because men have the temerity to think they’re entitled to women’s bodies,” one of the users wrote. “I have been saying it for a long time that casting couch is rampant in Tollywood,” added another.
Niti Taylor’s claims about a Tollywood director comes at a time when the South Cinema is also being accused of sexualising women. For weeks now, several people have raised objections to portrayal of women in Tamil or Telugu movies. Most recently, Janhvi Kapoor’s portrayal and alleged hyper sexualisation in Ram Charan starrer Peddi also faced immense backlash.
