Yash tells Sai Pallavi why he wants to make bigger films.
Sai Pallavi has opened up about a conversation she had with Yash while working on Ramayana, revealing that she once asked the actor whether he would ever return to the smaller romantic films he made earlier in his career.
The actress shared the exchange during promotional events for Ramayana in Hyderabad ahead of the film’s November 5 worldwide release. Yash, who plays Ravana in the Nitesh Tiwari directorial, explained why his focus has shifted towards bigger films.
“I asked Yash if he’ll ever come back to making small cute love stories,” Sai Pallavi said.
Yash responded, “I want to make my films big because I have the opportunity, and at the same time, I want to present Kannada and my South Indian and Indian cinema to the world.”
Yash On Why He Wants To Make Bigger Films
Sai Pallavi’s question referred to an earlier phase of Yash’s career, when he appeared in Kannada films such as Googly, Mr and Mrs Ramachari and Kirataka.
Those films were rooted in romance, comedy and everyday situations, before Yash moved towards larger productions with the KGF franchise.
Directed by Prashanth Neel, KGF: Chapter 1 was conceived as a pan-Indian project and became one of the biggest hits of the year. Its sequel, KGF: Chapter 2, expanded the franchise further and collected more than Rs 1,200 crore worldwide.
After KGF: Chapter 2, Yash went on to work in Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, directed by Geetu Mohandas.
He is now part of Ramayana, where he plays Ravana opposite Ranbir Kapoor’s Rama and Sai Pallavi’s Sita.
Yash Is Also Co-Producing Ramayana
Apart from playing Ravana, Yash is also associated with Ramayana as a producer through his banner Monster Mind Creations.
The film is directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios in collaboration with DNEG and Monster Mind Creations.
According to the details shared, Ramayana is being made on a budget of Rs 4,000 crore.
Sai Pallavi plays Sita in the film, while Ranbir Kapoor essays the role of Rama.
Ramayana To Release On November 5
Ramayana is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on November 5.
Before its theatrical debut, the film will have its world premiere at the Academy Museum in Los Angeles on October 27.
During the Hyderabad promotions, Sai Pallavi’s conversation with Yash also offered a glimpse into why the actor has continued choosing films mounted on a much bigger scale since the success of KGF.
