Sai Pallavi’s casting as Sita in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana didn’t sit well with some viewers when the cast was first announced. Since then, Nitesh Tiwari and actors Ranbir Kapoor and Yash have often explained why the actress is the perfect choice for the role. Now, Yash has revealed that Sai is devoted to Sita and remembers her “whenever she gets a chance”.

At the film’s international trailer launch event in Bengaluru, Yash said, “Sai Pallavi, she is a devotee. She is so devoted that she remembers Sita for five minutes whenever she gets a chance. We have seen her work on set.” He added that Sai has all the qualities to play Sita alongside Ranbir’s Ram.

Yash, who will be seen as Ravan, explained, “Very devotional, God-loving, God-fearing. She talks about God. I am very happy that she is portraying Sita. She has that art. She has a good heart. Bless her. I request you all to give her love and bless her.”

Previously, at an event in Los Angeles, Ranbir defended Sai and said, “We all know Sai is such a brilliant actor. You know, she’s accomplished so much. The first day, I remember, when I saw her as Sita, I just looked at Nitesh sir, and we both just knew that we couldn’t have cast someone better than her.”

Apart from Ranbir as Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana, the film also features Kunal Kapoor as Indra, Ravie Dubey as Lakshman, Rakul Preet Singh as Shurpanakha, Sunny Deol as Hanuman, Lara Dutta as Kaikeyi, and Arun Govil as Dashratha, among others. The music is being composed by Hans Zimmer and AR Rahman.

Reportedly made on a budget exceeding Rs 4,000 crore, the first part of Ramayana: Rise of a Legend will arrive in theatres on November 5, 2026. The second part is scheduled for a Diwali 2027 release. The epic battle between Ram and Ravan will reportedly take place in the second part. The first instalment will also focus on Ravan’s life and journey before his encounter with Sita and Ram.
