The second trailer of Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana is now out, giving audiences a much broader look at Ranbir Kapoor as Rama, Yash as Ravana and Sai Pallavi as Sita ahead of the film’s international release on November 5, 2026.

Released in English as part of Sony Pictures International’s global campaign, the new trailer expands considerably on the first glimpse unveiled in July. This time, the focus is firmly on the scale of the conflict between Rama and Ravana, with new footage featuring Kunal Kapoor as Indra, Ravana challenging the gods and Rama preparing for the war that lies ahead.

For overseas markets, the film is being promoted as Ramayana: The Rise of a Legend. Sony Pictures acquired the worldwide distribution rights earlier this year and has now formally begun presenting the Indian epic to audiences outside the country.

Yash’s Ravana Challenges Indra In New Trailer

The trailer opens with a voiceover establishing the world of the film: “In a time when men walked among gods, and evil rose from the darkness.”

Yash’s Ravana is then introduced as a ruler whose ambition and power extend far beyond Lanka. “Before me, every head will bow,” he declares.

One of the biggest new sequences features Ravana confronting Indra, the king of the gods, played by Kunal Kapoor.

Indra is seen riding Airavata, his celestial elephant, before Ravana launches an attack and sends the animal crashing to the ground. The confrontation positions Ravana not merely as Rama’s eventual adversary, but as someone powerful enough to challenge the gods themselves.

The sequence had briefly appeared in a television spot released ahead of the trailer, but the new footage offers a clearer look at Kunal Kapoor’s Indra and the scale of Ravana’s threat.

Ranbir Kapoor’s Rama Introduced As ‘Not A God, But A Man’

The trailer subsequently shifts its attention to Ranbir Kapoor’s Rama.

Rather than introducing him through divinity, the English narration frames Rama as humanity’s answer to Ravana.

“Humanity had one hope. Not a God, but a man — Rama,” the voiceover says.

Ranbir’s Rama is shown preparing to confront Ravana as the threat grows larger. In one of his key lines from the trailer, he says, “If I don’t stop him, the world will fall. This is just the beginning.”

Another action sequence shows Rama facing a gigantic creature inside a forest, using his bow and arrows to fight it.

The footage also offers a more extensive look at the visual world created for Tiwari’s adaptation, moving between forests, kingdoms, divine figures and large-scale battle imagery.

Sai Pallavi’s Sita also features in the trailer, while the larger narrative continues to move towards the eventual confrontation between Rama and Ravana.

Sony Pictures Begins Ramayana’s International Campaign

The second trailer marks a major step in the film’s overseas rollout.

Ahead of its release, producer Namit Malhotra had shared a note explaining that the team always intended to take the story of Ramayana beyond India.

“When we set out to make Ramayana, our dream was always to take one of India’s greatest stories to the world. Tomorrow, that dream takes another big step forward. Sony Pictures begins its international campaign for Ramayana, introducing this timeless story to audiences across the globe, many of whom will discover it for the very first time,” he wrote.

Malhotra further said, “For a film born in India to be presented to the world on the scale of a global cinematic event is something we as Indians are very proud of. Our truth, our history, from India to the world. Jai Shri Ram.”

The note was signed by Malhotra, director Nitesh Tiwari and Yash, who is also backing the film as a producer through Monster Mind Creations.

The makers had previously held promotional activity in Los Angeles, while the new English trailer formally takes Sony Pictures’ international campaign forward.

Special Rashtrapati Bhavan Screening Reportedly Planned

The makers are also reportedly looking at a special screening in New Delhi.

According to a Mid-Day report, permissions are being sought to organise a screening of Ramayana for political leaders at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

The proposed screening is expected to coincide with the film’s worldwide release on November 5. However, the makers have not officially announced the event yet.

Ramayana Brings Together Ranbir, Sai Pallavi And Yash

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana is being mounted as a two-part adaptation of the ancient Indian epic traditionally attributed to Valmiki.

Ranbir Kapoor plays Rama, Sai Pallavi essays Sita and Yash takes on the role of Ravana.

Ravi Dubey will be seen as Lakshman, while Sunny Deol plays Hanuman. Arun Govil portrays Dasharatha, Lara Dutta plays Kaikeyi, Sheeba Chaddha appears as Manthara and Adinath Kothare has been cast as Bharat.

Rakul Preet Singh plays Surpanakha, while Kunal Kapoor’s appearance as Indra has now been prominently unveiled through the new trailer.

Namit Malhotra is producing the film, with Yash also serving as producer. The project is reportedly being mounted on a budget of Rs 4,000 crore.

The music brings together AR Rahman and Hans Zimmer, while DNEG is handling the visual effects.

Ramayana Part One is scheduled to release internationally on November 5, 2026. The second instalment is currently planned for Diwali 2027.
