Jailer 2 brings Rajinikanth back as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian, the retired jailer he first portrayed in the 2023 film Jailer.

Jailer 2 starring Rajinikanth releases on Oct 15, 2026.
The Madras High Court has restrained the unauthorised online exhibition of two upcoming movies: Rajinikanth-starrer Jailer 2 and Shivarajkumar’s Kannada film Bail. This has been done to protect the copyright interests of the respective producers. The interim injunction orders were passed on Tuesday, October 13, following separate copyright infringement suits filed by Sun TV Network Limited and KVN Productions LLP.
As reported by Live Law, the court order came after Sun TV Network Limited, which is producing Jailer 2, sought protection against unauthorised exhibition of the film. The company filed a John Doe suit, a legal action that seeks relief against unidentified individuals or entities suspected of copyright infringement.
KVN Productions LLP, the Bengaluru-based production company associated with Bail, also filed a separate copyright infringement suit.
The injunction is intended to help the production house take action against illegal online screenings and distribution. “When the plaintiff has come before this Court specifically alleging that he has not granted any authorisation or licence to any person whomsoever and more so, the defendants, who are likely to infringe and release the film unauthorisedly, without proper authority or licence from the applicant/plaintiff, I am satisfied that the applicant/plaintiff is entitled to an interim order as prayed for, having made out a prima facie case,” the court said.
