The controversy surrounding South Korean actor Kim Soo-hyun and the late actress Kim Sae-ron has taken a fresh turn. A report has now claimed that the disputed KakaoTalk conversations used to support allegations about their relationship were fabricated.
According to a report by Dispatch, investigators have found that the original KakaoTalk conversations contained the name of another individual, identified only as Celebrity A, rather than Kim Soo-Hyun. The messages were allegedly presented with the changed names, which has now questioned authenticity of the evidence.
Reportedly, police has found the actual name of ‘Celebrity A’ in the original KakaoTalk conversations retained by Kim Sae-ron. Investigators reportedly examined differences in spelling, spacing and texting habits to determine who had written the messages. The report noted that Celebrity A followed certain spelling and spacing conventions, while Kim Soo-hyun allegedly used different spellings and expressions in his messages.
The conversations also reportedly referred to colleagues who had worked with Celebrity A but had no connection to Kim Soo-hyun. One of the messages at the centre of the controversy reportedly read, “When can I fall asleep holding you?” According to Dispatch, Celebrity A’s name appeared in the original conversation, but the name was subsequently removed and replaced with Kim Soo-hyun’s.
The report further alleged that an employee associated with the Garo Sero Research Institute (GSRI) told police that instructions had been given to change the sender’s name. Further investigation is underway.
