Dr Shriram Nene said that he didn’t watch a lot of Hindi films.

He confirmed this to Farah Khan.
When Madhuri Dixit first started dating Dr Shriram Nene, he had no idea that she was a Bollywood superstar. He didn’t watch a lot of Hindi films, so he had no idea about her fame. This also extended to superstars like Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan, whom he couldn’t recognise at his wedding reception.
The couple recently hosted Farah Khan for her vlog series, and she asked Dr Shriram why he didn’t know about Madhuri’s superstardom. He reasoned, “Because I grew up on Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, and Star Wars. I didn’t watch Hindi films. Then we met and dated for three months. We just hit it off and got along, and after three months I proposed to her.”
He also spoke about their grand reception in India and mentioned, “I didn’t know anyone. It was like Prom King; you just waved at everyone and later look at the wedding album because you don’t know anyone. The only person I knew was Amitabh Bachchan because I had seen Amar Akbar Anthony.” He confirmed that he did not know Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan as well.
Previously, in a chat in Hindustan Times, Madhuri Dixit recalled her time with Dr Shriram in the US and said, “In Denver, it was smooth and nicer because there were fewer Indians there. Where I lived, mostly there were Americans. For a long time, they didn’t know who I was; I was Mrs Nene there. I had my kids, Arin and Ryan; I would go to school to drop them.”
However, one incident changed this. Madhuri recalled, “One day, I saw a car come and stop at our house, then take a round and come back. My neighbours called me… vahaan darr laga rehta hai that someone could be trying to rob us, so people are careful. The neighbour asked, ‘Should I call the cops?’ I said, ‘Please don’t!’ I had to tell them I am a celebrity, and that the people in the car were trying to get a glimpse of me.”
Madhuri also revealed that her husband had not fully understood the extent of her fame in India when they got married. The couple returned to India in 2011, and over time, Dr Nene became more familiar with the film industry.
