Imran Khan’s film will not be a theatrical release.
Imran Khan has finally confirmed the release date of his upcoming film, Adhure Hum Adhure Tum. Imran Khan’s return to the big screen has been one of Bollywood’s most talked-about comeback stories. Since Katti Batti (2015), the actor has largely stayed away from films, leaving fans wondering when he would headline a project again.
Imran has now told Hindustan Times, “We have been told that they intend to release it in mid-December, on December 18, so we are rushing to finish the post-production and deliver it to them on time. Since it’s OTT, not theatrical, I don’t think the date makes any difference. I’m just glad that we can finally share this film with everyone.”
While Imran surprised audiences with a cameo in Vir Das’ Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos earlier this year, his comeback as a leading man continued to remain a mystery. Now, the actor has finally confirmed that his comeback film will be out ahead of Christmas this year. The film will be available on Netflix.
Besides Imran, the film also stars Bhumi Pednekar and Gurfateh Pirzada. It is directed by Danish Aslam. Previously, in a chat with The Hollywood Reporter India, Imran described the film as “a grown-up romantic comedy… age-appropriate to where I am now.”
Speaking to News18 previously, Imran revealed that the title Adhure Hum Adhure Tum was borrowed from a song in Break Ke Baad. While the film is not a sequel, he considers it a spiritual successor and has included a nod to Break Ke Baad. The film is said to be a mature romantic comedy that draws heavily from Imran’s life experiences, including marriage and separation, making it a deeply personal project for the actor.
Speaking about how the project came together, Imran said he felt the urge to make a film and had certain themes he wanted to explore. Since he was already familiar with Danish’s sensibilities, he approached him about collaborating on a project, and Danish responded enthusiastically. Danish had been developing a story in his mind for nearly a decade, and it immediately resonated with Imran. The two then decided to develop the film together.
