Arjun Rampal joins Mohanlal in Operation Ganga, calls it a privilege to work with him, as fans celebrate the Major Iqbal-Major Mahadevan crossover.

Arjun Rampal is joining hands with Mohanlal for the upcoming Malayalam film Operation Ganga. The actor confirmed the collaboration by sharing photographs with the Malayalam superstar from Tbilisi, Georgia, where the film is currently being shot.
Arjun, who recently appeared as ISI agent Major Iqbal in Dhurandhar and Dhurandhar: The Revenge, expressed his excitement about sharing screen space with Mohanlal. The pictures show the two actors posing together in casual outfits, although their looks from the film remain under wraps.
Arjun Rampal Calls Working With Mohanlal ‘Inspirational’
Sharing the pictures on Instagram, Arjun wrote, “Such an honour to have the privilege to share screen space with you Sir. It has been inspirational. The supremely talented and gifted @mohanlal Thank you. #operationganga #Georgia #Tbilisi.”
The post immediately caught the attention of fans, many of whom drew a connection between Arjun’s Dhurandhar character Major Iqbal and Mohanlal’s popular Major Mahadevan.
“Major Iqbal with Major Mahadevan,” one fan commented.
Another wrote, “Two Most Fav and Fab Men in one Frame,” while a third called it the “Collab I didn’t expect.”
Reacting to Arjun’s recent run of projects, another person commented, “This year no break, only back to back hits.”
One fan also referenced Arjun’s Ra.One character and joked, “lalettan and bebo,” referring to the scene in which his character pretends to be Kareena Kapoor.
Mohanlal’s Major Mahadevan Connection Excites Fans
Major Mahadevan remains one of Mohanlal’s well-known recurring characters, created by Major Ravi.
Mohanlal has played the character across several films, beginning with Keerthi Chakra in 2006. He later returned as Major Mahadevan in Kurukshetra in 2008, Kandahar in 2010 and 1971: Beyond Borders in 2017.
That history gave fans another reason to react to Arjun and Mohanlal appearing together in Operation Ganga, especially after Arjun’s turn as Major Iqbal in the Dhurandhar films.
Bhagyashri Borse Also Joins Operation Ganga
Bhagyashri Borse is also part of the film and recently shared pictures with Mohanlal from the shoot.
Her caption hinted that Operation Ganga could involve a spy setup.
“Dearest @mohanlal sir, To be your co-actor feels like a blessing. Every day of shoot, I get to see cinema through your eyes and learn from you.. you are truly gifted sir. #OperationGanga #AgentOnDuty,” she wrote.
Khushbu Sundar reacted to the post with “wow” and fire emojis.
Bhagyashri has previously appeared in films such as Kaantha, Kingdom and Lenin.
Arjun Rampal And Mohanlal’s Recent Projects
Arjun played ISI head Iqbal in Dhurandhar and Dhurandhar: The Revenge. The films also featured Ranveer Singh, Sara Arjun, Akshaye Khanna, R Madhavan and Sanjay Dutt.
He was also recently seen in Satluj, which released on OTT without prior announcement and was removed within hours. The Diljit Dosanjh-starrer had earlier been titled Punjab ’95.
Mohanlal, meanwhile, was last seen in Drishyam 3 and also appeared in cameos in Patriot, Thudakkam, Khalifa: The Ruler and Haiwaan. His upcoming lineup includes Athimanoharam, Nedumkandam Miracle and Ram, along with cameos in Jailer 2 and Kathanar – The Wild Sorcerer.
