Parineeti Chopra Slams Trolls Targeting Katrina Kaif’s Postpartum Body: ‘Absolutely Uneducated’
Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif was recently subjected to intense trolling over her postpartum appearance after she attended the Ambani family’s Ganpati celebrations with husband Vicky Kaushal. Recently on Bigg Boss 20, Salman Khan seemingly slammed the body-shaming trolls for targeting the actress. Now, Parineeti Chopra has also called out those trolling Katrina for her postpartum appearance. She called out the severe scrutiny female actors face regarding their physical appearance.
Parineeti Chopra Defends Katrina Kaif
In a conversation with PTI, Parineeti was asked about those trolling Katrina for her appearance, and how Salman Khan seemingly stepped in to defend her. Opening up about the unfair expectations placed on women in the public eye, Parineeti didn’t hold back, labeling the trolls as completely ‘uneducated.’
“When someone comments on a postpartum body, I find it uneducated,” Parineeti shared. “You get a haircut, your hair’s going to be shorter. You go for a vacation, you’re going to come back with a tan. There’s going to be evidence of what you did on your body, and all that is celebrated. But making a human life, a baby, that evidence on the body is not celebrated. How is it negative?”
“I would look at a woman and say, ‘Oh my God, I see a stretch mark. Did you grow a baby? That’s so amazing. How’s your baby?’ That’s how I would look at it. I would look at your haircut and say, Oh, did you get a new haircut? Your hair looks really cool.’ How can I make that evidence on a woman’s body negative? I find it uneducated,” she said.
Parineeti Chopra On Tuning Out The Noise
Parineeti admitted that she deliberately keeps her distance from social media to protect her peace, calling online negativity an absolute waste of time and energy.
“And who are these people who are commenting? I mean, why are we talking about it? It’s such a stupid waste of time to even speak about it,” she said. She further added, “So a woman produces a baby, her body may have changed. If it doesn’t change, I’d be worried. Every pregnancy will give you some evidence that you have grown a whole entire human being”
“I don’t even know the trolling that is happening around me, around people… because that’s how insignificant I feel it is,” she said. Questioning the motives behind internet bullies, she added, “Are they trying to make a career on social media? Are they trying to get attention? Are they trying to get followers? What is the problem?”
