The couple, who announced their marriage in December last year, shared the pregnancy news in June. In a new interview, Samantha opened up about her journey to motherhood and revealed that she had once come to terms with the possibility of never having children. She described the pregnancy as a “surprise.”

In a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter India, Samantha Ruth Prabhu revealed that she and Raj had been comfortable with the idea of not having children before she became pregnant. She said, “I had reached a place where I was okay. Like, both Raj and I were okay with, maybe we can’t have kids. Maybe we will. I was okay with either. I was fine, and so was he. So, this is a surprise.”
Samantha also opened up about how her perspective has changed since discovering she was pregnant and how she feels about embracing motherhood now. The actress shared, “The first day I was shooting for (the song) Thassadiya, I found out. I had just found out, and I had to go and do the steps. I was having a little bit of sickness at that time. I guess everything just aligned. And now, I am truly excited. Everyone tells me that having a child changes your entire life. I think I am ready for that change.”
Samantha’s film Maa Inti Bangaaram hit theatres in June, with the actress announcing her pregnancy to the world the following day.
Samantha and Raj Nidimoru first crossed paths professionally when the actress joined The Family Man 2, which was created by Raj and DK. They later worked together again on Citadel: Honey Bunny, and their association gradually extended beyond work. Rumours about their relationship began surfacing in 2024, with the two increasingly appearing together at events and in Samantha’s social media posts. They, however, largely kept their personal lives private and did not publicly confirm their relationship before getting married.
The couple tied the knot on December 1, 2025, in an intimate ceremony at the Linga Bhairavi Temple within the Isha Yoga Centre in Coimbatore. The actress had previously been married to actor Naga Chaitanya. The couple tied the knot in Goa in October 2017 after dating for several years, but announced their separation in October 2021.
